The reliabilt® program was sanctioned by Detroit Diesel Division of GM. It was setup to standardize and formalize distributor remanufacturing activities. Distributors whose products met certain quality related requirements were offered a licensing agreement to sell parts using the reliabilt trademark. Participating Detroit Diesel distributors in Tennessee, Ohio, Texas, Utah and California supplied and sold the majority of reliabilt products to other distributors.  

As sales volumes grew, distributors in the West combined resources into one company dedicated to remanufacturing parts and formed Distributors Remanufacturing Center located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

GM sells Detroit Diesel Engine to Penske Corporation and Detroit Diesel Corporation is formed.

Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing Corporation was formed following acquisition and consolidation of strategically located Detroit Diesel distributor-owned remanufacturing centers throughout North America.

These Centers would evolve into present-day Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing facilities located in Byesville, Ohio, Tooele, Utah and Emporia, Kansas.  

Penske purchases the new injector manufacturing operation in Grand Rapids, Michigan from GM. Remanufacturing of injectors begins and is called DTC Reman.  

Injector remanufacturing operations in Grand Rapids deal exclusively with electronic unit injectors and operations are spun off from DTC Reman. The company becomes part of Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing Corporation and name changes to Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing North. 

Daimler-Chrysler buys 100% shares of Detroit Diesel Corporation.

Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing Mexico opens Toluca, Mexico facility.

Daimler sells Chrysler unit to Cerberus Capital Management.

The new Daimler AG is founded. Freightliner LLC is renamed Daimler Trucks North America.

Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing purchases DMR Electronics in Hibbing, Minnesota, a leader in the design, manufacturing and remanufacturing of electronics.

Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing North becomes North America Fuel Systems Remanufacturing, a 50-50 joint venture with Bosch.

Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing, LLC, is a subsidiary of Detroit Diesel Corporation.  Both are companies of Daimler Trucks North America LLC. 

Detroit Reman's six world-class facilities, each equipped with advanced technologies and specialized capabilities, continue to widen the scope and availability of remanufactured products.
